Work Incentives Planning Assistance (WIPA) has emerged as an essential service to support the employment efforts among individuals with disabilities who receive SSA benefits. While funding from SSA has supported a successful national network of Community Work Incentive Coordinators, the opportunity of engaging beneficiaries who want to work requires expanded state capacity. This panel presentation will explore approaches used in two separate states for building benefits and work incentives planning and assistance capacity. Presenters will describe the specific approaches they have taken in their respective states. Participants will learn how to: identify potential collaborators; design a marketable business concept and project with target outcomes; and discuss possible areas for replication. This webinar will be conducted from 1:30-3:00 PM EST.
November 10, 2011
1:30pm - 3:00pm EST
This is the first part of a two-part series focused on building funding capacity for benefits and work incentives planning services, which continues to be a challenge experienced in the field. The presenters will describe the funding model, in each of their states, through which their state vocational rehabilitation (VR) agency pays for benefits and work incentives planning services, including fee-for-service and flat fee models. Individuals will learn about what led the VR agencies to provide funding for this service, including the belief that services can lead to better outcomes and increased reimbursement revenue through Social Security’s Ticket program, as well as successes and challenges faced by the agencies funded through these models. This webinar will be conducted from 1:30-3:00 PM EST.
