NABWIS

The National Association of Benefits and Work Incentive Specialists (NABWIS) are the many and varied professionals providing assistance to individuals who receive disability benefits.

Because of the complex and numerous interactions between cash benefits, health care, and subsidies many individuals with disabilities are discouraged from working because they fear for their financial and health futures.

In communities all across America, hundreds of benefits and work incentives specialists are trained to provide information and in-depth analysis to individuals currently receiving benefits so that those individuals can make informed choices about employment. Some practitioners are funded by the Social Security Administration, some of us work for state agencies, while others work in community rehabilitation programs. All of us are committed to seeing that people with disabilities get the highest quality information available to support choices regarding work and increased economic self-sufficiency. The profession of benefits and work incentives planning and assistance is a growing field -- taking its place as a critical employment support service for individuals who receive disability benefits.

As the profession of benefits and work incentives specialists matures, the creation of a national association to promote education, credentialing and a broad understanding of the field is a natural next step.

NABWIS Membership Levels

Professional Members (PM): Individual membership for those who are committed to the purpose and supportive of the goals of NABWIS and have, presently are or will shortly (within one year) hold a position as a benefits/work incentives specialist or provides training and technical assistance to practitioners.

Professional Organization: Membership for up to 6 individuals within an organization.

We Offer 2 NABWIS Membership Levels
Professional: Individual - $40
Professional: Organization - $160

Effective January 1, 2025, for all new members and at renewal for existing members, our membership rate is increasing as follows:

Individual members will pay only $60 per year.
Organizations of 5 or more members will pay $50 per member per year, with no limit to the number of members each organization can add.

This is still significantly less than the membership fees charged by other organizations. We wanted to let you now, so you have time to plan and budget for this modest increase in membership rates. Thank you for being a member!
